After reading Joel Salatin's book Folks This Ain't Normal, I learned that it was common years ago for farmers to trap small animals to feed their chickens the next day.Joel does this on his farm even now. So today I started doing that too. I fed all our bones from our supper last night, which was spicy wings, to my hens and they seemed happy. The dogs and cats shared any leftover meat, as well as the last helping of potatoes, and a good meal was had by all.
I have decided to start doing my wash only at the laundromat. I will do the drying at home on the line.
We lost another cat last night. We knee we would, since he had distemper. Still, even though we know that since we have more pets than most people that we will have more losses than most, three in three months......
I discovered a new cheap meal. Lentils with bacon crumbled up in it and sprinkled heavily with cheese. Mmmmmmm!
