Always Be Prepared

What would you do if you lost electricity? How would you cook supper? How would you maneuver around your home in the dark? How would you communicate with others if you lost your cell phone contacts or your home phone contacts?
I believe in having more than one way to do everything. Don't put all your eggs in one basket as they used to say.
If you can't use an electric stove maybe you could use a propane grill. If the lights go out do you have a battery operated flashlight lantern? Do you have oil lamp oil and matches?
If the electric can opener doesn't work do you have a manual one?
If the fridge doesn't work do you have a cooler that you can put blocks of ice in?
If you lose cell phone and house phone contact do you have a CB radio?
Do you have food that you don't have to cook, like sandwiches?
If you can't wash your clothes in the electric washer and dryer do you have another way to clean  your clothes? A bucket and a scrub brush and a clothesline work great!
What would you do if you ran out of detergent? Do you know how to make your own?
What if temperatures plummeted and it was freezing cold and you could not turn on your electric heater? Can you start a fire or have a propane heater?
How would you handle the heat?
If you can't use your credit or debit card do you have enough cash to put gas in your car ?
Always be prepared to do things differently than you normally do them! Always have a backup plan because you never know what will happen!
